Friends in Deed is an all volunteer organization with no paid employees. Therefore volunteering is the very heart of Friends in Deed. From the initial 18 volunteers in 1971 to over 200 volunteers today, we provide our programs to the community because of them. As you can imagine, we are always looking for more volunteers in any number of positions. Our volunteers staff the front desk during open hours and handle a variety of tasks. From helping clients pick the right kind of medical equipment to providing information on health care opportunities, they are the focal point for Friends in Deed. We have volunteers who offer their personal vehicle and provide transportation in the local and Tucson area for doctor and dentist appointments. We also have volunteer drivers who are trained to operate our wheelchair van or to drive our eleven passenger van. Volunteers staff the transportation desk and match clients with volunteer drivers. Nurses volunteer their time to staff our blood pressure screening events. All of the equipment donated to and used by Friends in Deed is maintained to the highest standards by a capable group of volunteers. The needs go on and on. Without the help of this wonderful group of people, Friends in Deed would not exist.
